Laser Liposuction Vancouver WA
What is Laser Liposuction?
Liposuction is one of the most popular body sculpting treatments for people who have stubborn fat on their buttocks, abdomen, legs, hips, and other areas of the body. Traditional liposuction relies on a solution that dislodges the fat which is then removed by moving a cannula along the fat layer of skin. This technique has been replaced due to the long recovery times, inconsistent results, and patient discomfort. Laser lipo is a widely-used technique for removing unwanted fat. The heat that is produced by laser energy essentially melts the fat cells before they are suctioned away with a thin tube.
Laser Lipo vs. Traditional Liposuction
Laser lipo is the preferred technique for body contouring. It results in less tissue trauma, so your recovery is more comfortable, and full results take less time. There is also less bruising, stiffness, and discomfort with laser lipo compared to traditional liposuction.
Laser Lipo vs. Non-Invasive Laser Lipolysis
At NW Laser, we recommend minimally-invasive laser liposuction for our body contouring patients. Some ask about non-invasive laser lipo procedures. Although there are some advantages, such as no downtime, the non-invasive laser lipo technique does not produce results that are consistent as minimally-invasive laser lipo. Another disadvantage of non-invasive laser lipo is that, typically, as series of treatments is needed to achieve the desired results.
How Does Laser Liposuction Work?
For your lipo laser treatment, laser energy is emitted through a thin tube, known as a cannula. As the laser is moved along the fat layer, it breaks down and dislodges the fat cells. The technique works for removing larger areas of fat, as well as precise administration of the laser energy for targeted body sculpt treatments, such as creating contours in the abdominal area.
What Areas Can Be Treated with Laser Liposuction?
Liposculpture and micro laser liposuction are recommended for almost any part of your body, including:
- Inner and outer upper thighs
- Upper arms
- Love handles
- Abdomen
- Back
- Chest and breast area
- Hips
- Knees
- Chin and upper neck area
What Kind of Results Can I Expect from Laser Liposuction?
Any swelling may interfere with seeing your final laser lipo results. In most cases, swelling subsides after three months. You may see some results of laser fat removal after one to two months.
Can Laser Liposuction Be Combined with Other Procedures?
Laser liposuction body contouring can be combined with other procedures, such as a Brazilian butt lift, Emsculpt®, and fat transfer. Combining procedures gives you a toned appearance.
How Many Treatments Will I Need for Laser Liposuction?
Using a laser for fat removal only requires one procedure. You may need additional laser liposuction procedures in the future if you develop new fat in the treatment area.
What Should I Expect During the Laser Liposuction Procedure?
Laser surgery to remove fat is performed with local anesthesia. The laser liposuction procedure requires an incision that is only 2 mm to 3 mm long. A series of incisions may be needed for larger areas. A thin tube that is equipped with laser light is inserted through the incision. As the cannula is pulled along the underside of your skin, laser energy breaks down the fat, and it is suctioned out through the cannula.
What Should I Expect After the Laser Liposuction Procedure?
Body contouring fat lasers immediately remove stubborn bumps and bulges from the treatment area. The heat from the laser light also stimulates collagen production to tighten your skin. There may some swelling in the area. Full results may take several months. You may have some bruising, swelling, and tenderness after your laser lipo procedure. We recommend that you rest and avoid strenuous activities for the first seven days. The incisions don’t require incisions. Initially, the healing will form a pink scar. After one year, the scar will more closely match the surrounding skin.
Is Recovery from Laser Liposuction Painful?
You will have discomfort for up to one week after your laser lipo procedure. The pain can be managed with non-prescription medications. We recommend that you do some easy activities, such as walking around your house, after the first one to two days. This helps reduce swelling and prevents muscle stiffness which can worsen your discomfort.
Is Laser Lipo the Same as CoolSculpting®?
CoolSculpting® is a non-invasive fat reduction procedure. The main difference between laser lipo vs. CoolSculpting® is the technology. Fat laser treatment directly removes excess fat cells. CoolSculpting® freezes the fat cells, which cause them to rupture. Your body gradually eliminates the fat that is released.
What are the Risks and Side Effects of Laser Liposuction?
As with any surgical procedure that requires incisions, there are some laser lipo side effects and risks to consider. The most common side effects are infection, inconsistent results, and numbness. Using laser surgery for weight loss is not recommended. The amount of fat that is removed with the technique will not result in significant weight loss. You should be near your ideal weight for at least one year before considering laser lipo body contouring.
