Chemical face peel Vancouver WA
Dr. Grishkevich offers chemical peel treatments to improve your complexion, reduce signs of aging, and enhance skin health
About Chemical Peels
Skin care peels are one of our most popular treatments for acne, a dull complexion, signs of aging, and other concerns. The peeling treatment for your face removes the damaged layers of skin to reveal new, healthy skin cells. At NW Laser, we offer face peel procedures for general skin care, as well as treatments to target specific concerns, such as face peels for acne.
Types of Face Peels
Chemical peels are available as light, medium, and deep, based on the specific chemicals and concentrations of the solutions. Light chemical peels are similar to exfoliating your skin, and this is one of the best acne remedies. Medium peels help with wrinkles and dark spots. Deep peeling is the most advanced treatment, and it helps with more severe signs of aging, such as deep creases. We recommend the best chemical peel for your needs during the consultation.
Chemistry for Aesthetic Medical Peels
Based on the depth of the peel, chemical peels are made with combinations of aesthetic chemicals, such as AHA, BHA, and TCA. A trichloroacetic acid (TCA) chemical peel removes the top layer of your skin. TCA acid helps with acne, acne scars. Fine lines, wrinkles, and other signs of aging. Another type of acid facial peel is a retinol face peel. It works to stimulate collagen production. Glycolic acid is good for hyperpigmentation. There are also specific brands of chemical peels, such as the PCA chemical peel, Derma Peel, and peels that use the Jessner solution.
Chemical Peel Benefits
Most people are familiar with the cosmetic benefits of a chemical peel facial, but there are many other lesser-known reasons to have a face peeling treatment at NW Laser. Your skincare products work better after a chemical peel because the active ingredients penetrate better. Chemical peels can also help with certain dermatological skin conditions, such as melasma and cystic acne.
What Can Be Treated with a Chemical Peel?
Chemical peels treat a variety of concerns, such as fine lines, wrinkles, deep skin creases, and uneven skin tone. A chemical peel for acne rebalances your skin to reduce the frequency and severity of your breakouts. If you struggle with chronic acne, we may also recommend a chemical peel for acne scars. Hyperpigmentation describes any type of abnormal areas on your face where the skin is darker, and a chemical peel for hyperpigmentation removes the darker skin cells to even out your skin tone.
How Do You Prepare for a Chemical Peel?
If you use skin care products that contain retinoids for your face, you’ll need to stop using them for at least seven to 10 days before your chemical peel. You’ll also need to avoid sun exposure for at least 10 days, and waxing for seven days.
Chemical Peel Procedure
Chemical peels are one of the best skin resurfacing products that you can easily incorporate into your anti-aging and skin health routine. For the treatment, a skin peeling product is applied and allowed to remain on your skin for a period of time. For example, glycolic acid peel instructions require the solution to stay on your skin for 30 to 60 seconds. A neutralizing solution is applied to stop the peeling process.
Chemical Peel Aftercare
We explain your post chemical peel care before you leave our office. Chemical peel aftercare does require some changes to your normal routine to protect your skin as it heals. We encourage you to follow the instructions carefully to ensure the best possible chemical peel results.
Day-by-Day Chemical Peel Recovery
You may notice a mild burning or tingling sensation for the first few hours after your treatment. Over the next three days, your skin feels dry and irritated, and there may be some swelling. It is normal to see flakes, discolorations, and other flaws. On the third and fourth day, you may notice that your skin looks darker, and you may develop blemishes. The effects of the peel start to subside after five to seven days. It may take two weeks or longer for your skin to heal completely. Deep peels may take longer.
Does Skin Peel During the Period of Healing from a Chemical Peel?
Your skin does peel and flake after a glycolic peel and other types of medical chemical peels. This is an indication that the treatment is working as expected.
What are the Risks and Side Effects of a Chemical Peel?
Chemical peels side effects are rare, and a chemical peel gone wrong typically indicates that the solution was applied incorrectly or you weren’t a good candidate. Some of the more common derma peel side effects include scarring, discoloration, and infection. Skin peeling on your face is one of the expected side effects. Should you experience any phenol peel complications or other unusual symptoms, please contact our office right away.
Tips for Getting the Best Results from Your Chemical Peel
For the most part, you’ll need to allow the healing process to unfold naturally after your chemical peel. There are some steps that you can take to ensure the best possible results.
- Avoid touching your face, as this increases the risk of infections
- Stay out of sunlight because your skin is much more sensitive to harmful UV rays
- If you have to go outdoors, use a high-quality sunscreen that won’t irritate your skin
- Use a high-quality moisturizer for sensitive skin
- Don’t exfoliate, rub, or scrub your skin
- Drink plenty of water
