Fat Transfer Vancouver WA
What is Fat Transfer?
Fat transfer is a minimally-invasive cosmetic procedure that uses fat from one part of your body to enhance another area. It is ideal for people who only need a small amount of augmentation to enhance natural contours and reduce signs of aging. Unlike surgery, fat transfer liposuction requires minimal downtime and recovery.
What Parts of the Body Can I Transfer Fat To?
At NW Laser, we use advanced fat transfer techniques that are effective for almost every part of your body.
Facial Fat Grafting
Facial fat grafting enhances the lips, cheeks, and undereye area. It is also useful for reducing creases around the nose and mouth. Fat grafting for the lips adds volume and definition for a more supple appearance, and lip fat injections may also reduce vertical lip lines. Fat injections in the lips are alternatives to silicone implants and allow for more precision with lip augmentation. Fat grafting under the eyes reduces bags, dark circles, and fine lines. Fat grafting for your cheeks is recommended for young and older patients. Cheek fat grafting adds volume and gives your face a balanced appearance.
Breast Augmentation with Fat Transfer
Do you want to add a little volume and fullness to your breasts? Fat transfer may be the solution. Breast augmentation is typically performed with silicone or saline implants. Many women prefer to avoid implants. Fat transfers add fullness just where you want it, and the injections also help with asymmetry, dimples, and other minor cosmetic concerns.
Fat Transfers for Your Legs
If your calves give your legs a disproportionate appearance, fat transfer can help. For a woman, fat transfer to the calves adds definition and contours for a shapely and attractive look.
Hand Rejuvenation with Fat Transfers
Thinning skin and fat loss give your hands an aged appearance. Fat injections in your hands restore a youthful appearance and make the veins less visible.
Butt Augmentation with Fat Injections
Also known as a Brazilian butt lift, buttock augmentation with fat injections gives your butt a round appearance. The injections overcome the limitations of silicone implants which are only available in standard sizes and shapes.
Advantages and Limitations of Fat Transfer
This procedure has gained popularity recently due to its natural-looking results and long-lasting effects. However, like any medical procedure, fat transfer has advantages and limitations that should be considered before undergoing the treatment.
Advantages of Fat Transfer
Fat grafting can be used on almost every part of your body, such as your abdomen, legs, hands, cheeks, lips, breasts, torso, back, and hips. We specialize in techniques that produce natural-looking results. Fat transfer for the body and face requires little to no downtime. Recovery is much shorter than body contouring and anti-aging surgery. Fat transfer is ideal for patients who prefer to avoid implants.
Limitations of Fat Transfer
Fat transfer has a few limitations. The fat used for the injections is taken from your body, so you need extra fat in your hips, thighs, abdomen, back, or another donor area. Fat transfer is not recommended for people who want to add significant volume to their faces or bodies. The amount of fat removed does not change the look of the donor area. If you want to reduce stubborn fat, we can combine liposuction with a fat transfer procedure.
Candidates for Fat Transfer
In most cases, fat transfer procedures require local anesthesia. This may mean that people who are not good candidates for general anesthesia can have fat transfer injections.
How is Fat Transfer Performed?
Fat transfer augmentation is a three-step process performed in our office. You go home the same day.
Steps Involved in the Procedure
Fat transfer procedures involve extracting, purifying, and injecting the fat. We use liposuction to remove a small amount of fat from the donor area. If you are interested in body contouring, we can remove more fat and reserve what we need for the injections. The fat is processed to remove impurities and loaded into a syringe. The purified fat cells are carefully injected into the treatment area.
Anesthesia Options
Fat transfers are typically performed with local anesthesia and sedation. General anesthesia is only required if you are having liposuction to remove a greater volume of fat than what is needed for the injections.
Recovery Time
We recommend that you rest at home for approximately seven days as part of your fat transfer recovery. The incisions for the liposuction are very small and require no sutures. You should check the donor area for any signs of infection and improper healing. Avoid putting pressure on the area where the fat was injected to prevent shifting of the fat grafts.
Fat Transfer Results
There may be some swelling after the injections, and this may make the treatment area appear fuller than expected. Swelling lasts for a few weeks, and you can then see the full results. Not all fat cells survive the transfer process, and we may recommend subsequent injections to refine the results.
Minimal Scarring and Risk of Complications
Fat transfer produces minimal scarring, and it only occurs in the donor area and the scars after skin healing are unnoticeable. Fat transfer risks are rare. More common risks include blood collecting under your skin and fat cells being injected into a blood vessel.
